September 5, 2022 Kitchen Range-hoods 101
There are many different designs and styles of kitchen range hoods, but they all fall into four main types or categories. These include wall-mounted hoods, island hoods, rangehood inserts and under-cabinet hoods.
Although all range hoods are made with the same important purpose of ridding smoke, grease, and other toxins in the air that come from cooking and cleaning, some are more effective than others. Below are three of the most common.
1. Wall mount range hoods are one of the most common types of hoods. These vent hood types are mounted securely against a wall in the kitchen. Ideally, mount your wall rangehood about 600-750mm between the bottom of the hood and the cooktop to capture the most cooking fumes and prolong the life of your range hood.
2. Island range hoods are a beautiful centrepiece for any kitchen space. As they are mounted to your ceiling, your ductwork will need to plan ahead of time to make the necessary provisions.
3. Canopy range hoods are a great option if you want to make the hood a feature in your kitchen. This can be done in a range of materials including copper, tiles, marble, or polyurethane.
